Part of the construction of the Gold Coast Desalination Alliance’s plan for a Desalination Plant as a solution to the millennium drought, Ausipile was engaged to construct a vinyl sheet pile wall to provide methane gas cut off wall.

Prior to the start of the sheet piling, in 2008, Ausipile undertook the installation of pilot trials for the Alliance to ensure the installation methodology proposed could be confidently re-produced in bulk on site.

The project involved the pre-drilling and installation of interlocking CL9000 C-Loc vinyl sheet piles, with the use of custom made steel driving mandrels to protect the vinyl pile during installation. Piles were installed with a sacrificial custom pile toe clamping plate and driven through fill material, old landfill, and indurated sand.

In addition to the installation of the vinyl sheet piles, due to the ground conditions and topography in the remediated landfill site, localised dewatering was also undertaken by Ausipile where required.

To ensure efficiency and performance on site, 2 piling rigs were allocated to the project, working simultaneously on 2 work fronts (pre-drilling and sheet pile installation).

The project was a huge success, and the client was extremely pleased with the product and quality of the installation.

19 – 27 Onslow Street, Ascot

Design and construction of 450mm diameter open bored soldier piles for a single level basement using our rotary drilling rig BG 15 H, as well the design and construction of 600mm diameter foundation piles for the crane base.

4 Storey Residential – 578 Sherwood Road, Sherwood

Design and construction of perimeter Ø600 Cased Soldier Piles for a 2-level ramping basement.
Construction methodology included pre-drilling through an alluvial cobble bed layer, backfill, and finally casting in-situ piles.
Capping beam details, and temporary bracing struts were designed, supplied and installed by Ausipile.



Albany Creek Road, Aspley

Extension of portal frame structure in Shopping Centre.

Design and construction of CFA Foundation piles ranging in diameter sizes from 470mm to 750mm using custom made attachments for our PC270, and BG15. Due to the project’s low headroom requirements, and tight access through existing live building structures, separate stages of work with 2 of our piling rigs had to be utilised to accommodate the varying conditions.


Extension of the existing multi-storey Youth Hostel building.

Design and construction of 420mm and 319mm diameter perimeter Cased CFA Secant Pile wall to allow for excavation of a single level basement below ground water table. Limited working area, and pile tolerances to property boundaries and existing structures were critical in the project.

Additionally, 450mm diameter CFA Foundation piles were designed and installed to socket  into rock below water table.

Supply and installation of dewatering services for the required duration through the basement construction in accordance with Byron Bay City Council stringent standards.


4 Archer Street, Bilinga

Design and construction of perimeter sheet piles for a single level basement, including a combination of cantilevered and internally braced sheet piles for a car-stacker over-excavation. Ausipile was involved in the installation of the sheet piles in medium dense to dense sands and both the design and installation of the internal steel bracing.

1-3 York St, Nundah

1-3 York Street, Nundah is an 8-level residential development with a single level basement.
The project involved the installation of 70 no. of 350mm diameter soldier piles at 700mm centres with a mix of both cantilevered and propped piles.



6 Crank St, Sunshine Beach is a two-storey residential development located near Noosa Heads in the Sunshine Coast on a highly sloping site.

AUSIPILE was involved in the Design & Construction of the shoring system to retain excavations of up to 6.5m, as well as Earthworks to provide a flat platform. A significant amount of valuable engineering expertise was used to design and install 73 no. of internally braced 480mm diameter contiguous piles at 510mm centres, in which 29 no. of piles were initially installed on the sloping site to provide a flat platform. Steel bracing was also designed and installed to internally prop the excavation.





8 Storey Residential Building.

Design and construction of a braced 610mm diameter Cased CFA Secant Pile wall for 2 level basement, and mix of 880mm Cased Bored Piles and 620mm Cased CFA Piles as foundation piles to support building loads and tower crane base. Shoring piles installed from stepped working platform down to groundwater cut off levels, while foundation piles extended down to socket into competent underlying strata.

Design and installation of temporary corner bracing struts to provide support to the shoring wall.
